Internationalité et innovation dans la création contemporaine — by Prof. Carlo Forlivesi State Conservatory of Music "Gioacchino Rossini”

COMPOSER CARLO FORLIVESI is known and appreciated in academia for his research and teaching experience. A recipient of numerous international composition awards, with performances and masterclasses held in many cities around the world, he currently divides his time between Italy, Germany, and his beloved Japan. His multiple interests extend from contemporary to early music, from electronics to ethnomusicology, from essay writing to social responsibility.  According to Prof. Forlivesi music needs both historical awareness and tabula rasa. deep-rooted schooling and rhizomatic learning. The magnetic pole of creativity is organic and in constant motion, and he believes in the importance of following this magnetic pole in a flow of rediscussed Weltanschauung, wherever it leads him. As a composer, ideals of fluidity and forward motion are central to his creative approaches. As an educator, Forlivesi advocates for iterative processes of music learning, which must be designed to take many variables into account.  HIS LECTURE will start with questions related to interculturality and transculturality and will provide a quick panorama of new music, including parts of the world which lay outside of the traditional power regions informing western classical and modern music. Then he will introduce some of his works and compositions for orchestra, voices, electronics and Japanese traditional instruments.    A Q&A session will follow.
